History Will Not Forget

Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Carla Hayden

14th Librarian of Congress

"Libraries are a cornerstone of democracy--where information is free and equally available to everyone. People tend to take that for granted, and they don't realize what is at stake when that is put at risk."

-- Dr. Carla Hayden

Dr. Hayden was the first woman and the first African American to lead the Library of Congress. She was a tireless crusader for making libraries and books accessible to all. In May 2025, she was removed from her position by the Trump administration without cause. May her name and service not be forgotten.
